An interview with Tirdon, Assistant to the Prime Minister of Taydaryn

Today, we are excited to have Tirdon, Assistant to the Prime Minister of the Norwegian kingdom of Taydaryn. Welcome, sir. Thank you for joining us today.

I'm delighted to be with you.

Would you please introduce yourself to our readers?

Of course! My name is Tirdon, and I reside at Dalgaard Castle in the tiny Norwegian kingdom of Taydaryn.

I'd like to ask you random questions that we may get to know you. I see you nodding and smiling. Are you agreeable to that?

Yes, as long as they're not too personal.

Not a problem. If there are any questions you are uncomfortable answering, just let me know and we'll move on.

First off, do you prefer fine dining or picnics?

Well, most of my meals are within Dalgaard Castle, but I’d love to have the chefs prepare a champagne picnic to share with the love of my life on this special mountainside outside Taydaryn. At night it is fascinating to watch the lights go off one at a time.

Do you have any scars? If so, what are they from?

You are getting personal! No, I'm kidding. I do have many scars in dragon form, some have stayed with me in the man you see. Four hundred years ago there was a great battle to save Dalgaard Castle from the Fire Dragon Guard, a rogue sect that leaves no stone unturned. Amarice, the Queen’s husband, and his best friend, died in that battle. I flew along side of them.  Yes, there are many scars.

Have you encountered many villains in your line of work?

As I stated earlier, the battle for Dalgaard Castle made many enemies. I would have to say Martrand duBois is the biggest thorn in my side.

Tell us something you hate doing and why.

Waiting. I know I chuckle when I say this, but waiting is not good for me. I’m a very impatient man, when it comes to the business of Taydaryn, especially.

Name one thing that drives you crazy.

Well...I’d have to say, the love of my life. And crazy in every good way possible.

One final question...what is one thing you can't live without?

Well, now that I have found the love of my life, after centuries of searching, there is no way I will let go of her…no way I can live without her by my side.

To find out more about Tirdon and the peoples and Kingdom of Taydaryn, pre-order your copy of the anthology STOKING THE FLAMES II. Release date is May 22, 2018.

A Character Interview with Taylor Andrews

Welcome back. Today we had Taylor Andrews join us in the studio today for an interview. She was kind enough to join us all the way from Wyoming.  Like so many others to join us recently she has a unique tale to tell. In case you missed her interview this morning we’ve posted the interview below.

“Welcome Ms. Andrews, I’m so glad you could join us today.” I shook her hand as she sat in the seat across from me.

She tossed her blonde hair over her shoulder and smiled. “Thanks for having me, Rebecca.”

“So Taylor, can you tell the listeners about yourself?”  I asked.

“I’m nothing special really,” She shrugged.  “just a simple farm girl. I grew up in Tennessee, and I love horses. Its what drew me to Wyoming. I wanted to ride the trails in Yellowstone Park. I was hoping it would help me get over my ex.”

She had my attention now. “A farm girl? What was life like for you growing up?”

“Our farm was small: a few horses and a couple cows. Momma kept chickens too. We had chores every day before school and homework came first thing afterward. It was just mamma, my brother Cooper, and I but we were always happy.” Taylor explained.

“Do you live in a small town or big city now?” I asked wondering what Wyoming was like.

She laughed slightly. “I don’t even think you can call it a town. We live spread out over thousands of acres, but no one has ever called it a town.”

“What attracted you to living in that type of environment?” I couldn’t help being baffled by such an odd living arrangement.

Taylor snorted. “I didn’t pick it.” She smiled again. “That’s where Chase lives. He can’t leave his brother needs him.” I stared, lost. “Chase Drake is my husband. He saved my life on the trail, and I’ve loved him ever since.”
“Chase Drake, I’ve heard that name before.” I pondered. “As in Asher Drake’s brother?” Taylor nodded, and everything she said made sense. “Can you explain to the listeners who don’t know what your husband is, and if there are any other extraordinary people in your life?”

“Sure, Chase is a dragon. Well, a dragon shifter. Think of it like a werewolf only he shifts into a dragon and has full control. Specifically, he is an American dragon, but there are Chinese dragons as well. Oh, and we have a white witch that helps us with problems occasionally.”

I sighed. Every time I heard it I found it unbelievable. “Are dragons like everyone else?”

“Their human halves are.” She shrugged.

“Well, what do you do for fun?” I prompted.

“We love to go country line dancing. Chase is a cowboy through and through, and I love it.” He blue eyes sparkled with the thought.

“What’s one thing that drives you crazy?” I asked, and her cheeks flamed red. “I mean that annoys you.”

Taylor laughed nervously. “I was wondering why that was your business.” She cleared her throat. “He leaves the damn toilet seat up. His dragon tries, but Chase never remembers.”

“Sorry, his dragon can fit in the house?” That was a new one for me.

“Oh no, I should explain.” Taylor thought a moment. Chase and the dragon are separate beings in one body. They share a mind. Both are always there, but only one is in control at a time. Usually, Chase is in control of his human body. On rare occasions though, the dragon takes control of it. Chase can do the same with the dragon body, but he said he never got the hang of flying.”

“Wow,” I stared a moment unable to help it. “Now that you’re married to a dragon is there anything you regret not doing?”

“I should have let Chase kick my ex’s ass.” Taylor smiled.

I wasn’t sure what this ex did, I just assumed by how sweet she was that he deserved it. “Last question: If you could be anything what would you be?”

“A dragon like Chase, so he wouldn’t have to protect me all the time.”

“I’m sure he thinks your perfect the way you are,” I assured her. “Thanks for coming in today Taylor.

“Thanks for having me.” She shook my hand.

Dragon Mythology Part 2

Rebecca Tran

Dragons play different roles depending on the culture their myth developed in. As I discussed in the
last post wyvern's and Welsh dragons were sometimes used as battle standards or on crests. They were majestic symbols, but they were also something to be feared. There reputation for destruction made the commoner respect the mighty beasts. The story throughout Europe was the same.

Dragons in China are the polar opposite. Chinese dragons represent all the positive aspects the people of Chia wish to portray. They are wise, beautiful, and friendly. Chinese dragons are never feared and are in fact considered lucky. In some places they are worshiped in their own temples.

Chinese dragons come in seven basic colors and are usually broken into four basic groups based on those colors. These groups represent the four cardinal directions and have their own unique properties.

Blue and Green dragons are associated with serenity, growth, health, prosperity, harmony and the east. They symbolize spring with the colors reminding people of new plants and clear skies.

Black and White dragons are associated with the Chinese concept of yin and yang. The black dragon represents the feminine or yin which is negative and passive. It also represents the winter and the north. Black dragons are commonly associated with power and storms. White dragons represent the masculine or yang which is active and positive. The color white is associated with the west, autumn, purity, mourning and death. The latter aspects carry over to the white dragon and it is often seen as an omen of death.

Red Dragons are the dragons of the summer and of the south. They represent luck, fire, and passion.

Gold and Yellow dragons are the most revered dragons. They represent the emperor and imperial family. Yellow dragons represent reliability, solidity, and warmth. Even now that there isn't an emperor in China gold dragons continue to represent wisdom, wealth, and compassion.

When my lead dragon Dr. Lucas Meyers needed a leading lady to fix his broken heart I was inspired
by a green Chinese dragon. I wanted to use a dragon with unique abilities that were a wild card for the domestic dragons. If you want to read the result you can find my box set Dragons of the North here

Blurb:  Stronger Together

Dr. Lucas Meyers gave up on finding a mate. After a bad break up with a witch, he was sure he was destined to be alone. That was fine by him. Lucas threw himself into his work at the hospital instead. When he goes home after a long shift and finds his new roommate Jade he’s forced to re-evaluate a few things. Is Jade really his mate or is she another woman waiting to break his heart?

Hunted Launch Day

Rebecca Tran

As many of you may know I love my dragons. I currently have a series of blog posts on dragon here
is the link. For those of you who don't know I also write romance books. I started with a full length novel titled For Their Sins. It's historical fiction crossed with vampire lore and its not for anyone under the age of 18.mythology. If you haven't had a chance to read the first post

Recently, after binge reading a romance collection of shifter romances I was inspired to write my own. Dragons were the natural choice. My best friend needed some cheering up and it was only supposed to be one story for her. I got a little carried away. Four books later the first collection was complete. I still wasn't finished though. There were characters with stories that needed to be told.

Hunter moved to the Southern Territory in the first set and gave me the perfect opportunity to explore secondary characters there. The first book follows his pursuit of Lexa in the Southern Territory. While my books are best read in order it isn't necessary.

To celebrate Launch Day I am offering the first Box Set Dragons of the North at half off until Monday 3/26/18.

Hunter Silver was sent to Arizona to clean up the Southern Territory as their new Enforcer. After nearly a year on the job, things are finally falling into place.  Life was ideal. That is until a starved female werewolf wanders into his life. Hunter’s dragon says mine before it ever meets Lexa. This has trouble written all over it. Can Hunter save the territory and Lexa or will he be forced to choose?

After waking up in a cage, Lexa Greene runs as far as she can before nearly collapsing from exhaustion. With her memory gone Lexa has no choice but to trust a handsome stranger. Lexa’s wolf wants Hunter before her human half ever realizes what she is. But Lexa can’t start anything until she’s pieced her life back together, or can she? Will Lexa risk it all for a chance at love or will she run again?

dragon mythology 1

Dragons are a common thread in many different countries' mythology. Each type of dragon is unique to the area where they originated. India, for instance, has serpentine dragons no arms or legs, and some have multiple heads.

While other dragons are much more familiar to most like a Wyvern. This dragon originates in Europe and dates back to the medieval period. It is serpent-like with two legs and wings. Wyvern or Wyvern type dragons can be found all over Europe. They were used as battle standards, on shields and coat of arms.

A common problem for many people at least here in the States is that people don’t realize that the Wyvern earned the title of European Dragon. It’s diversity and spread throughout the country far outpace its cousin the Welsh Dragon.

Most people think of the Welsh Dragon when they hear European Dragon. It's more reptilian with four legs and wings. I think for us Hollywood has defined this as a proper dragon.

Welsh Dragons have their own long, rich history though. Merlin told the Welsh King Vortigern that the red dragon defeating a white dragon in his dream represented the English defeating the Saxons. A red Welsh Dragon was also believed to grace King Arthur’s battle standard. King Henry VII even used a red dragon to support his royal coat of arms.  While Welsh Dragons aren’t European Dragons, they certainly are English dragons.

If you’ve read my other posts you know I like my writing as accurate as possible. However, when I wrote my dragon shifter series Dragons of the North, I used Welsh style dragons that admittedly moved from Europe ages ago. They even admit they were European dragons. It was written primarily for the American market, and I had to go with the flow. This was one of those times I had to sacrifice reality for art.
