At the risk of offending any of the producers of these videos, I will leave brief feedback, all of which reflects my own personal taste and preferences. I think these videos are best viewed on Youtube. I am far from a professional, but having created many videos, I will state I prefer longer trailers, music with words distracts me from reading the copy, I am not a fan of frames that go by quickly as I don’t read fast and neither do many readers. I’m also picky about the video and the music ending in sync although I know that can be extremely difficult to do.
The Ancestors’ Secrets Trilogy by Erika M. Szabo Music: Excellent Images: Good - Excellent Overall: I liked this video
Enlightening Quiche by Eva Pasco Music: Very good Images: Mostly text Voice: Very good Overall: Too short, image of quiche didn’t draw me into the story.
Midnight Black – The Purge by R. J. Eastwood Music: Excellent Images: Excellent Overall: Excellent, I like the pace even at 59 seconds and the length of time the cover is displayed. This is not my genre, but I was drawn into the story and would read this book. I think viewers would be hooked. I think this is a perfect example of less being more.
The Cursed Girl – Maria Vermisoglou Music: Compelling but too fast Images: Very good – excellent Overall: I would like to see the cover and author’s name sooner in the video, but I do like that the cover holds ten seconds at the end along with where to buy.
Heroes Never Fade by Rick Haynes Music: Excellent Images: Excellent Overall: Excellent layout, clean and uncluttered. I have to wonder if too many characters are presented.
Chaos of Souls Series by R. M. Garnio Music: Choice of music is very good but should be lower than the speaking voice. Voice: I didn’t care for the voice because it was difficult to understand and hear clearly in many places even using headphones. Overall: This is not my genre so it wasn’t particularly appealing to me but probably would be to a younger audience. I like the display of the two covers at the end and where to buy.
Music: Appropriate for this video, too intense for me Images: Good; well placed with copy Overall: Is this a series written by two different authors? Two author’s names at the end was confusing to me.
Ethereal Custody by Allanvre? Music: Excellent; music does not over-ride voice which is also excellent. Images: Excellent + Overall: Very well presented for such a short presentation. Reads as though it was a well-planned blurb put to video—nice.
Fall River Rancher by Keriann McKenna Of course I like this video because I created it, although I know it has its flaws.
Artesans of Albia by Cas Peace Music: While lovely, music with lyrics distract from the copy and the frames moved so fast that I had to watch it twice. Images: Excellent + Overall: Clean, crisp, excellent font and covers for the series
Places of the Three Crosses by Chris Weigand Music: Excellent Images: Excellent Overall: Excellent with the exception of the end of music not in sync with the video (I know this is difficult to do)
Sanctuary of Nine Dragons by Christina Weigand Music: Excellent Images: Excellent Overall: Excellent – perfectly synced ending
The Quest by Karina Kantas Music: Excellent Images: Excellent Overall: Excellent I like the repetition of the book throughout the video and the perfect sync of music and video at the end.
Rarity from the Hollow by Robert Eggleton Music: Excellent Images: Excellent for the most part; there were a couple I didn’t care for, specifically the mean father and the family couple holding hands at the end. Overall: Excellent Perfectly synced ending with credits rolling after music ends.
Updated Version Book Trailer for Jonathan’s Locket by Lorraine Carey Music: Excellent Images: Excellent Overall: Very Good
Cursed Bloodline by Erika M. Szabo Music: Excellent Images: Excellent: I like the opening image very much. Well-paced with music. I like the break before the three cover image. Personally, I did not care for the #Books by Erika page with the unfolding rose as it took me out of the story which had previously drawn me in. I like the end credits but not the abrupt ending.
Our Author Gang by Erika M. Szabo Music: Excellent Images: Excellent Overall: I like the images of the individual authors and their quotes. I think this video should have ended with the frame that reads “At OAG we blog together, help and support each other, and have fun together.” I would have added “Come join us.” as an invitation for authors to join would be a nice touch. Since this is not promoting a book, all the rest could have been left out and the ending would have been synced perfectly.
The Ancestors' Secrets Trilogy is a visually appealling video. Well done!
